returfing wickets at Marulan cricket club
Recently professional golf course greenkeeper David Insley moved to Marulan, just down the road from Marulan Cricket Club and took to reinstating their turf wicket. The oval and club had been out of action for the previous 8 years requiring a huge amount care, with Dave even purchasing rollers and cylinder mowers with his own money. However all his efforts were not producing the surface he wanted, so he approached Daryl Davidson for some advice. With the wicket too far gone, it was decided to re-turf the wicket square.
Our Daryl Davidson and Damien Curtis have done a wonderful job to arranged Ventrac (with PowerBroom), Ground Solutions Australia (with Air2g2), Musturf (with wash maxi-rolls of TifTuf) and various other sponsors to assist on the day, which will include removal of the existing dead turf and surface, marking out the wicket, levelling the surface.
Marulan Cricket Club was first established in 1866 and there is a great story about the Bulli wicket soil being shovelled off the back of a brocken down truck on the hightway, but we will leave Club President, Rob Collins to tell that story on the day.
If you are planning to stay for lunch, please make note on the registration form so the Club can cater appropriately.
You will need to adhere to Covid-19 social distancing rules and you will need to sign in using the NSW Service app on the day.
