Sports Turf NSW Association are very pleased to announce Jake De Marigny as the NSW winner of the 2018 Sports Turf Association Graduate Award Program.

“It is wonderful to see such professionalism and knowledge from our graduates this year” said Sports Turf Association NSW President Chris Chapman. “Our association is continually looking to mentor the next generation of sports turf managers, and Jake is an exceptional candidate.”

Jake has been working for Sydney Uni Sports & Fitness from the beginning of his apprenticeship.  The Syd Uni grounds team have a massive task in maintaining 8 lawn tennis courts, 8 ovals with 3 turf wickets, practice wickets, a synthetic hockey pitch and 3 hectares of surrounding green space, which offers Jake a comprehensive and varied working environment, where all his technical skills are put into practice on a regular basis.

“Jake De Marigny has been a terrific apprentice. In addition to his great work ethic, Jake has also developed a strong passion for the sports turf industry.” said Ed Smith, Operations and Infrastructure Manager, Sydney Uni Sports and Fitness. “In turn, this passion has driven his thirst for knowledge and impressive development as a professional in the industry.  He is a highly valued member of the Sydney Uni Sports team.” 

The Sports Turf Association Graduate Award Program is annual event sponsored by Toro Australia, who will host the state award winners during their Toro Sports Field and Grounds Forum in Brisbane from 23-28 July.  The nominees will have further interviews with industry leaders during this event, and the National winner will be announced during the Forum, with the awarded prize including an educational trip to the US, including facility tours and entry to the Toro USA Sports Field and Grounds Forum in July 2020.
