Changes in industries happen all the time, but none more than the significant change our industry is about to encounter, as Graeme Logan leaves Accor Stadium and CommBank Stadium.
The contract under which Accor Stadium (Homebush) and CommBank Stadium (Parramatta) is managed, is about to change. The NSW Government, via Venues NSW, will take over the operations of both stadiums. This has resulted in some changes of structure, mainly at the senior management level, including Graeme Logan who has taken a redundancy of the position as Head Curator.
Graeme has held the top position of an elite stadium for over 37 years. He has been the only Head Curator at both venues, originally Parramatta Stadium and Stadium Australia.
He will now take a very well-earned break to wind down and discover life after the demands of stadium arena management and delivering a world quality standard playing surface, week in week out.
This break will also include Graeme’s role with STA NSW. He was the inaugural President of the association, back then called the Turfgrass Association NSW, and Graeme held that position for 10 years when he stepped back to the role of Vice President, which he has held ever since.
Graeme has assured us that he will always be around to support STA, but for now, he needs to enjoy some time for himself and his family before considering his next work adventure.
Graeme’s commitment, leadership and mentorship has been a significant factor in the success of the association over the past 23 years, not to mention the professionalism, development and improvement of industry practices of sports turf management.
We look forward to bringing you a feature article on the successes, challenges and certainly a few entertaining stories of Graeme’s time at top of the game.
We wish Graeme only the best, and more than anything hope he enjoys a great break from work. We look forward to seeing where his next journey takes him.
Thank you, Graeme, for everything you have contributed to the industry and to STA NSW.
